Dr Renée Bartolo leads the ERISS Revegetation and Landscape Ecology program (formerly the Spatial Sciences and Data Integration program). She has a background in remote sensing of tropical wetlands (in particular the use of SAR data), development of spatial information systems for natural resource management and in more recent years, ecological risk assessment. As part of data collection for remote sensing applications, she has undertaken field work in wetlands of southern New Guinea’s lowlands and the coastal region of the Northern Territory. Renee’s current research focus is the use of drones for environmental monitoring in northern Australia and in particular for mine site rehabilitation and revegetation assessment. She is a Fellow of the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute and has held a number of governance roles, serving on boards within the spatial profession and industry over the years.
